My Story
I’VE BEEN BUILDING BUSINESSES LONG BEFORE I WAS BUILDING THIS ONE.
I’ve been an entrepreneur most of my adult life. I’ve started businesses, built them from the ground up, grown them, sold them, started over, and helped other business owners do the same through consulting. I’ve made plenty of mistakes along the way — but I also learned how to take an idea and turn it into something real.
The Empty Nest Mom started from a completely different place: my own life changing when my girls grew up. But somewhere along the way, I realized the two parts of my story belong together. I know what it feels like to wonder “What now?” — and I also know how to turn a maybe I could… into “Okay, let’s do this.” Now I want to help other Women do exactly that.

The Journey
I Never Had a Perfect Roadmap. I Just Kept Going.
1999
I Started My First Business
I jumped into entrepreneurship and quickly learned that owning a business meant wearing every hat, solving problems as they came, and figuring out a whole lot along the way.
2005
Everything Changed Overnight
My husband was killed unexpectedly, and suddenly I was raising our girls while stepping into businesses we had built together. I didn’t know where everything was—or even how I was going to do it—but I knew I wanted to stay close to my girls. So I figured it out and kept going.
THE NEXT CHAPTER
I Built Again
After selling, I started a new chapter in the pizza business through a franchise. What began as another opportunity grew into operating multiple locations across multiple states and gave me an entirely new level of experience in operations, people, sales, leadership, and growth.
THEN LIFE CHANGED AGAIN
I Became Mimi
Business had always been a huge part of my story, but becoming Mimi brought a whole new kind of joy. Eventually I sold again, and for the first time in a long time, I had room to ask myself what I wanted to do next.

I began consulting and helping small-business owners work through the things I had spent years learning firsthand—growth, operations, marketing, leadership, tough decisions, and sometimes simply figuring out the next right move.
THE EMPTY NEST — TODAY
Then I Had to Figure Out What Was Next for Me
I moved my youngest daughter out of state for college and came home to an empty nest. After years of being Mom, business owner, and the person everyone needed, I found myself asking, “Okay… now what?”
That question eventually became The Empty Nest Mom. Today I still work with small businesses while helping other moms figure out what’s next for them too—whether that’s starting something new, growing a business, chasing a dream, or simply finding themselves again.
Turns out, starting over is kind of my thing.

I took up running because apparently I needed another way to prove to myself I can do hard things. Give me a goal, and I’m probably going to chase it.
Say Yes More
Trips, spontaneous adventures, new experiences, starting over — I’m learning to say YES now instead of “maybe someday.” Life’s too short to keep waiting.
