In this series, we’re introducing the incredible Women behind The Empty Nest Momthe ones who’ve been there, cried there, laughed way too hard there. Whether they’re chasing toddlers, launching college kids, or rediscovering themselves one hobby (or latte) at a time, these Moms are here to remind you that you’re never alone in this journey. Come meet your new favorite people.

✨ Talking with Jill was like sitting down with your favorite cup of comfort. She’s nurturing, deeply thoughtful, and full of gentle strength. From her Mimi moments to her quiet faith, Jill reminds us how powerful soft love can be.

We asked Jill a few heartfelt (and slightly personal) questions—because her gentle wisdom and Mimi magic were too good not to share.

Let talk motherhood, How would you describe yourself as mom?

My kids would probably say I was the overprotective Mom—and honestly, they’re not wrong. But I like to think I was just cautious about the world and fiercely protective of the people I loved most. I wanted our home to be the place—the one where all the kids wanted to be. If the snacks were stocked, the music was playing, and the door was always open, maybe mine would stay home a little longer. It worked for a while! Over the years, I became ‘Mama J’ to so many of their friends, and honestly, that’s one of my favorite titles I’ve ever been given.”

A Note from Mandy

I’ve known Jill for years, and from the very beginning, she’s been the kind of Mom who makes everyone feel seen, safe, and truly loved. She has this quiet strength and deep spiritual wisdom that just radiates comfort—and it’s no surprise that so many people call her “Mama J.” What I love most about her is the way she shows up for others with open arms, a soft voice, and a fierce heart. When I created The Empty Nest Mom, I knew Jill’s voice would be one that other Moms needed to hear. She has a way of reminding us all that even in the quiet, love speaks volumes.

What are your favorite go-to products right now?

When you’re walking through the seasons of Motherhood—and now Mimi life—having a few go-to items that bring comfort and ease makes all the difference. These are some of my everyday favorites—things I reach for often and truly love.

  1. Better Homes & Gardens Lavender & Lemonade wax melts – This scent has become my little escape! It’s soft, fresh, and calming. The mix of lavender and lemonade is soothing without being too sweet, and it makes the whole house feel clean and peaceful. Total Mom win.
  2. Flamingo Tumbler, Stainless Steel Insulated Tumblers – The stainless steel keeps my drinks ice cold (or piping hot), and the flamingo design? Instant mood booster. Whether I’m running errands or rocking the Mom-life hustle, this tumbler goes everywhere with me—stylish, spill-proof, and totally me.
  3. Torani Sugar Free Syrup, Soda Flavors Variety Pack– This variety pack is a total game changer! Whether I’m craving a guilt-free soda, sparkling water upgrade, or a fun flavor twist in my iced tea, these syrups bring all the flavor with none of the sugar. The variety keeps things fun, and honestly—it feels like having a little soda fountain right at home.

From comforting favorites to everyday Mom wins, these are the things I truly love and use. They bring peace, purpose, and a little joy to the day—and if I’m sharing it, you know it’s been Mimi-approved and heart-tested.

Tell us a Fun fact about you?

I’m a huge Gilmore Girls fan (Team Luke forever), I’ll always have Carole King playing somewhere in the background, and—believe it or not—I once jumped out of a perfectly good airplane. Yep, skydiving! I’ve got a soft heart, but a bit of a wild side too.

Tell us how you Met mandy

I met Mandy when my kids played tee ball on the team she was coaching. One night after a game, we started talking—and ended up chatting for hours like we had known each other forever. That night, I didn’t just gain a teammate—I made a lifelong friend.

What was your first thought when Mandy told you about The Empty Nest Mom?

When Mandy first told me about The Empty Nest Mom, I thought, “Wow—this is so cool… and so us.” I’ll be honest, I was a little hesitant at first. I’m not a writer, and I wasn’t sure how much time it would take or if I’d have anything meaningful to contribute. But more than anything, I didn’t want to let Mandy or the other girls down. What I’ve realized is that simply showing up and sharing my heart is enough—and that this space is about connection, not perfection.

You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.
